Feed & Educate Children Initiative

Challenge

There are an estimated 1.7 million orphans in Kenya, with approximately 700 children orphaned daily. Most of these children withdraw from school due to lack of family support. Malnutrition increases the chances of children dying from preventable diseases.

Solution

Our initiative provides 700 orphaned and vulnerable children with essential support including nutritious meals, school uniforms, learning materials, medical care, and quality education as the pathway for breaking the cycle of poverty.

Measured Impact

  • 92% school attendance rate among supported children
  • 68% reduction in malnutrition cases
  • 74% improvement in academic performance
  • 85% of supported children now continue to secondary education

Success Story: Jane's Journey

"When I lost my parents at age 8, I thought my education journey had ended. JCIC not only provided me with food and education but also mentorship. Today, I'm studying nursing and hope to give back to my community."

Girls Empowerment Program

Challenge

In parts of North Rift Kenya, girls as young as 12 are forced into early marriages, undergone harmful cultural practices, and denied educational opportunities. This perpetuates cycles of poverty and gender inequality.

Solution

Our comprehensive program provides education scholarships, healthcare, vocational training, and psychosocial support to girls rescued from early marriages. We also conduct community education to change harmful cultural norms.

Measured Impact

  • 100 girls rescued and enrolled in schools or vocational training
  • 30% reduction in early marriage rates in targeted communities
  • 85% of rescued girls complete secondary education
  • 42 community leaders now actively advocating against harmful practices

Success Story: Mary's New Beginning

"At 13, I was told I would be married to a 45-year-old man. JCIC rescued me and gave me a chance at education. Now I'm completing my high school education and dreaming of becoming a lawyer to fight for girls' rights."

Youth Development Program

Challenge

Young people in rural Kenya face limited opportunities for higher education and meaningful employment. Many talented youth remain trapped in cycles of poverty due to lack of resources, mentorship, and exposure to career possibilities beyond their immediate environment.

Solution

Our Youth Development Program provides comprehensive support including higher education scholarships, vocational training, internship placements, entrepreneurship education, and leadership development to help young people achieve their full potential.

Measured Impact

  • 124 youth supported through higher education or vocational training
  • 78% employment rate among program graduates
  • 32 youth-led businesses established in local communities
  • 65% of program graduates now actively mentoring younger children

Success Story: Joseph's Business

"Through the entrepreneurship training and startup grant from JCIC, I was able to start a poultry business that now employs four other young people from my village. We're not just making a living; we're showing others what's possible."
